I think both options should be included and the option for the potential new member put into the sign up agreement at the time of signup.

So, i've turned the feature on on this website so you can see that it works.

Summary: the admins of a website now decide if profiles are public or not.
This is also in no way a privacy issue as you agreed in terms and conditions of a website.
Another feature could be that users themselves configure if their whole profile is public/private

Above is all good. Incl. the user's feature.

But I would like to suggest that the default to be OFF.

Reasons being that a new-to-DF Admin can't be expected to know and understand all the options available from day 1. It will take time. If it is OFF and admin wants it on, s/he can change. But if it is initially ON and admin decides s/he wants it off (when s/he discovers it) the "cat is already out of the bag" as Google et al will have already harvested the data, and you cannot undo that.

Actually the feature is terrible at the moment (even in v9).
Google still follows profile links in forums, blocks and anywhere else.

Due to this the Google Webmaster Tools is filling with "Access denied" errors.
Every link to any Your_Account should be removed in the source code.

IIRC that was the problem with the original patch for v9. But Nano's latter version for v9, which went into CVS, was to redirect to profile=1 - Anonymous - to both hide members' info and keep Google satisfied.

Thanks layingback, i will have a look at it.

Changed DB to be utf8mb4_bin
MySQL 5.5 supports the UTF-8 "4 characters" but only through charset 'utf8mb4'
I converted this website's DB.
Benefit would be to support Emoji, which supersedes emoticons.
Also see: code.google.com/p/drag...p;name=v10

Else it would throw an error: "Incorrect string value: '\xF0\x9F\x98\x81\x09U...' for column 'post_text' at row 1"

Found a solution for databases which don't support Unicode v7 :satisfied:
Added on this website inside bbcode for now.
It also only has a subset of the emoji (faces only).
Should be extended to support all 250 emoji 😓

It uses "background-size: 100% auto;" to scale the emoji based on font size.
The default icons are 64px and mostly scaled down.

See changeset here: code.google.com/p/drag...p;name=v10

MMMMMMMMMMMMM
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM 😂
MMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Great, but why not scale it down a little more to match the font height? Then the line height (see above) won't change for lines having emoji.

Have been doing this for years with my enhanced nbbcode.php and the result is much more pleasing on the eye in a larger post/article.

I used style="vertical-align:top" in v9 to align it better with the text, but that alone isn't quite enough here - just pushes the following line down instead.

PS. Post Reply no longer has the prior post below, so no (rational) way to check back on something - in this case spelling of emoji. Deliberate or bug?

Changed it, this better?
height: 1.25em; vertical-align: text-bottom; width: 1.25em;
size 7 font 🙈 , size 18 font 😖 , size xx-large font 🙀

Not a bug, i deliberately removed the previous post block in this template.
Wanted to extend the quick reply block with bbcode, but didn't as of yet.

I've added an Emoji builder to create theme files for custom Emoji support.
This means you can select which Emoji to support and generate the required files.
dragonflycms.org/emoji-builder/

Selecting all Emoji makes it a very big image file (4MiB) so scaling down to 32x32 pixels afterwards is adviced.
