MySQL server has gone away.. Reply to topic

But it's absolutely fine on every other page (except the admin page where it fails to connect to the update server). The queries take no time at all, and even drastically cutting down the number of queries by reducing the number of blocks has made no difference.

Server specs (Server OS / Apache / MySQL / PHP / DragonflyCMS):

Now we are getting somewhere. Sounds like a firewall blocking outgoing connections.
The fsockopen connections timeout are configured to 15 seconds.
That might explain it.

Disable everything (rss feeds?) that does an outgoing connection.

Server specs (Server OS / Apache / MySQL / PHP / DragonflyCMS):
Fedora 25 / Apache 2.4.27 / MariaDB 10.1.26 / PHP 7.1.10 / Mercurial

Is that something I have to do on the server or in DragonFly?

Server specs (Server OS / Apache / MySQL / PHP / DragonflyCMS):

Dragonfly rss blocks and dragonfly security

Server specs (Server OS / Apache / MySQL / PHP / DragonflyCMS):
Fedora 25 / Apache 2.4.27 / MariaDB 10.1.26 / PHP 7.1.10 / Mercurial

I don't have any RSS blocks and not sure what I need to enable in security..

Server specs (Server OS / Apache / MySQL / PHP / DragonflyCMS):

My host says
it appears that the file /home/chantill/public_html/includes/classes/rss.php is hanging. Can you please try disabling any RSS feeds from your site and try again?
. How do I disable them?

Server specs (Server OS / Apache / MySQL / PHP / DragonflyCMS):

Open ./includes/functions/linking.php
line 101
function get_fileinfo($url, $detectAnim = false, $getdata = false, $lastmodified = 0, $depth = 0) {

Add below "exit($url);"
function get_fileinfo($url, $detectAnim = false, $getdata = false, $lastmodified = 0, $depth = 0) { exit($url);

This allows you to know which $url is called

On the admin page it's dragonflycms.org/updat...rs=9.4.0.0

Server specs (Server OS / Apache / MySQL / PHP / DragonflyCMS):

On the register page it's newsrss.bbc.co.uk/rss/...e/rss.xml. Aha! That's from an old Breaking News block; so disabling that should fix it - brilliant!

I read a contradiction here Laughing
Great you found it

You got me... 😃

What about the hanging on the admin page?

Server specs (Server OS / Apache / MySQL / PHP / DragonflyCMS):

Admin -> Main Settings -> System -> Enable Update Service: NO

Server specs (Server OS / Apache / MySQL / PHP / DragonflyCMS):
Fedora 25 / Apache 2.4.27 / MariaDB 10.1.26 / PHP 7.1.10 / Mercurial

Thanks. Is it not working then?

Server specs (Server OS / Apache / MySQL / PHP / DragonflyCMS):

It's working.
The problem is somewhere with your hosting.
The error log should have entries why.

Fedora 25 / Apache 2.4.27 / MariaDB 10.1.26 / PHP 7.1.10 / Mercurial
