Forum Watch Notifications Reply to topic

Hi there - I thought if Forum Watch was enabled in the forum configuration and a member selected a forum to watch that it would send an email when something new was posted to that forum - is that not the case?

Is there a way that I can allow my members to choose such a thing or perhaps manually set that for select members?

Server specs (Server OS / Apache / MySQL / PHP / DragonflyCMS):
[ Linux / Apache 2.2.8 / MySQL 5.0.45 / PHP 5.2.6 / CPG 8.2b - 9.3.4.1]

It works on these forums for me.
Could you therefore explain it a bit more?

Server specs (Server OS / Apache / MySQL / PHP / DragonflyCMS):
Fedora 25 / Apache 2.4.27 / MariaDB 10.1.26 / PHP 7.1.10 / Mercurial

I select a forum to watch.

I post a new topic in that forum or reply.

An email never arrives.

Site is at 9.4.0.0 CVS.

So I am poking around trying to figure out what settings is set so that emails are not being sent by the site.

In the admin settings for "Mail" mine are set as follows:

Allow the use of HTML in email: Yes
Use SMTP server as opposed to PHP's mailer: No
SMTP host address (smtp.host.tld): smtp.myhost.tld
Does server require SMTP authorization: No
SMTP username: (none)
SMTP password: (none)

(none) meaning that the field is empty.

Should these be set up differently?

Why does the poster want a notify about themselves?

I'm just testing it. I have members that want to know when ANY new post is posted to the forums.

Is it smart enough to know that I am replying to myself and thus do not need an email?

Perhaps the user has changed their option to receive mail in their user account.
They should be able to receive notify emails on a Topic they select. Not the entire Forum

Make sure they are "Watching this Topic" (at the bottom on left of The Topic Page.)

If that is all "Correct" Then check your sites email settings.

Have you been able to send mail from site in the Past??

Somewhere in Forums admins there it should be an Allow Forum Watch option (as includes/phpBB/functions_post.php:543), is it enabled.
